Changes to the Jott Service

Posted by Nicolette Tallmadge on September 5th, 2008

In past posts, I’ve written about Jott, a free service that allows you to use your cell phone to send reminders, to do’s, and messages to your email address. In the year I’ve used Jott, I’ve been using it to send myself reminders, I’ve also used it for blogging, and I’ve even used it for posting updates to my Twitter account.

Up till now, Jott has been free to use, but that’s has changed now that it’s come out of it’s beta testing phase. If you like to use Jott there are three different plans you can enroll in:

Jott Basic- free, you can send unlimited Jotts, but they come in a single daily email instead of individual emails. Recording time is 15 seconds and it will also work with Jott for iPhone and a new application called Jott Express. Plus, there will be advertising in your Jott emails.

Jott- $3.95 a month, unlimited Jotts. Each Jott comes both as an individual email and in a daily digest. Recording time is 15 seconds and it works with Jott for iPhone, Jott for Outlook, and Jott Express.

Jott Pro- $12.95 a month, unlimited Jotts. Each Jott comes both as an individual email and in a daily digest. Recording time is 30 seconds. Will also work with Jott for iPhone, Outlook, and Jott Express, the pro version also works with Jott for Blackberry.

There are also some Pay-As-You-Go plans in which you can buy blocks of recording times in 10 minute ($9.95), 20 minute ($18.95), and 100 minute ($89.95) blocks.

You can learn more about the different Jott plans at their Getting Started page. If you’ve signed up for Jott while it was in beta testing, you are eligible for an early adopter discount of 26% off the yearly price of a Jott or Jott Pro account. This offer will be available until September 8th.

What am I planning on doing with my Jott account? I’ve gotten used to using Jott, so it’s going to remain a tool of mine in one fashion or another. I’ve got until September 8th to decide how!

Need a new domain name? Consult a psychic!

Posted by Nicolette Tallmadge on July 17th, 2008

My SEO pal Colin clued me in on a domain name lookup service called Psychic Whois. Here’s how it works. You simply type in a possible domain name and Psychic Whois automagically fills in suggested domain names based on what you’ve typed. You can search by both domains that have already been registered and those that haven’t been registered yet. Psychic Whois will tell you what’s available and what is not.

This is good for finding an available domain names if the one that you wanted is already taken. It’s also a great way to find ideas of ones that you may not have thought of. You can go play around with it at http://www.psychicwhois.com/

And once you find that perfect domain name, be sure to register it right away!

An Artist’s Guide to Twitter

Posted by Nicolette Tallmadge on June 23rd, 2008

Okay, so it’s been what two or three days since I last wrote about Twitter? Well, I’ve finally finished two mini-projects about Twitter so I won’t have to yap about it on my blog every day.

The first one is that I’ve created a brand new Squidoo lens called “The Artist’s Guide to Twitter” that lists tells you all about what Twitter is, how to get a free account, and how you can use it to connect with other people and promote your website. I’ve also included a growing list of Twitter tools and programs that can help you Twitter better and you can also sign the guestbook and leave your own Twitter name so that people can follow you. You can check it out at http://www.squidoo.com/ArtistTwitterGuide

The second mini project is that I finished doing a video tour of Twitter so you can see what it’s all about, how it works, and what you can do with Twitter. You can watch that by clicking on the video below.

RSS users: Can’t see the video? Click here

So now…I’ll be writing about things other than how great Twitter is…if you want to continue the conversation, follow me at http://twitter.com/nikolena.
